G & M Goold
When we opened our funeral home we wanted to achieve several things. We wanted it to reflect over 30 years of experience in the profession. We wanted to create a personal, professional, dedicated service that we as a family could be proud of. With our life skills and maturity, we know first hand that bereavement is a long journey and we wanted to be able to be there for families at their time of need.
When you suffer a bereavement, a funeral for a member of your family is one of the most difficult days of your life. Everything that you and your family and friends thought about a loved one is expressed on that day; this is where experience matters.
Proud to be professional
Many people have recommended us and we ask the families if that was because we are a husband and wife team, or because of our professionalism and attention to detail.
'Yes' they say, 'it's all of those things, but it's also because of the unique environment you create; it's the way your family looked after our family that's important to us'.
We have been asked whether it is difficult being married and working together all day and spending so much time together; 'what do you talk about at night?' Our reply to that is as parents and grandparents we have plenty to do and talk about.
One of our proudest moments, besides our two sons serving their country, was when Dan told us that he wanted to join our business and learn how to be a funeral director. In another twenty years or so he will take the reigns and steer our company into its second generation.
We have recently welcomed our other son Mike into the business, who has come from the Royal Engineers and is now training to be a funeral service operative.
We often turn to family, neighbours, and friends in time of crisis; here at G & M Goold, families will come in as strangers, but they always leave as friends.
